Plot:
Fairy tale characters living happily in Mother Goose's village are terrorized by the evil Barnaby (Ray Bolger) who plans on marrying Mary Quite Contrary (Annette Funicello) to get her money and run the town. Her beau Tom Piper (Tommy Sands) and the rest of the fairytale folks come to the rescue!
The wooden soldier stop animation sequence took over 6 months to film!
You can still see the toy soldiers every year at Disneyland during their Christmas parade!
Look closer at the evil Barnaby, it is Ray Bolger, the scarecrow himself!
Ray Bolger used to have his own
TV show, and he had a very good Christmas special...
